I have been in education for 13 years. My experiences in education have been in preschool, 1st Grade, 3rd Grade and 7th Grade. I have also coached girls basketball for 7th, 8th and high school. In addition, I have served as an Interventionist Specialist, Reading Recovery and Assistant Principal at Justin Elementary before joining the Cox Family as Principal.
My husband and I have three children in Northwest ISD, who are actively involved in academics and athletics.
My name is Stephen Garretson and I am starting my 27th year in education. I am proud to be serving as the Assistant Principal at Cox Elementary for the third year. I have taught a wide range of grade levels and subjects over my 27 years.
I believe that building relationships with students, staff, and families is critical to helping students succeed. This means working with all stakeholders to ensure your child's academic, social, and emotional needs are being met.
I received my Bachelor's degree from East Texas State University. I have a Master's degree in Early Childhood from Texas A&M-Commerce, and a PhD in Child Development from Texas Woman's University. I then added my certification for Administration from The University of North Texas.
