It is that time again!  Cox Elementary is taking part in the 21 Day Challenge, a healthy snack challenge that encourages our students to eat at least one healthy snack a day. There is no cost to complete this challenge and every student who completes it will receive a prize from the sponsors. On Thursday you will receive a recipe book and further information about the challenge but I wanted to give you a quick run-down so it was on your radar. Here are the steps to complete the challenge:

1.       Register online for the 21 Day Challenge.  Registration starts on September 17 and runs through October 1.  If you do not register your child online they will not be eligible for prizes or count in our final numbers.  Be sure to make note of your child’s unique code upon registration.  You’ll need it at the end of the challenge.  Here is the link: https://kids-teaching-kids.com/sign-up/

2.      From October 1 through October 21, your child will eat at least one healthy snack a day.  They can choose from the recipe book or make their own or they can keep it simple and eat and apple or carrots!

3.      After the challenge is completed, you will receive a survey from the sponsor asking a few questions about your child’s experience in the survey.  If you do not complete this survey, your child will not have completed the challenge.

That’s it!  It’s simple, fun and a great way to work towards healthy habits.  We would love to share pictures of your students eating or preparing healthy snacks once the challenge starts.  We may post them on the school Facebook page or on the PE Twitter account or print them and put them on our board.  We love to share good things our kids are doing!

Finally, there is a prize for the school with the top completion percentage in the district.  Last year we won $500 and were able to purchase an inflatable Ollie the Octopus and Stella the Starfish along with some parachutes to toss them into the air.  These are things we couldn’t purchase without the extra money so as always, any money we win will go to purchase extra equipment!  It  you get a chance, take a look at the trophy from last year. It’s hanging out in the front office.  J  We’d like to keep this rotating trophy here at Cox Elementary!
